I hope someone can help. I have a 60hp merc EFI 2005 that will start, idle fine, run down the lake for approx 2 minutes maybe at 3 to 4,000 rpm then die. I prime the ball again it starts and does the same thing. It will run longer at lower speed obviously using less fuel. If you keep pumping the ball it will run all day. I have replaced or tried: a brand new primer ball, different external tank, cleaning the fuel system: check the vent etc. The odd thing is, the first weekend out this year it ran all weekend with no problems, then this last weekend back to the same old run and die. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bob

Could be bad fuel pump, air leak in fuel hose connections or a restriction in fuel hoses.Regards

fuel pump?
I appreciate the comments so far, but i have tried new lines with a new ball and external tank. If it is indeed the fuel pump, why is it intermittent. I took it out yesterday and ran it all day without incident the only thing i did not do is take it over 3000 rpm i just cruised. Thanks for the help, this is a problem that many people are experiencing with these motors. I dont believe i am the only one. Would fuel pump only work at low rpm and not at a higher? I dont know but thought i would ask the guys that work on them. Thanks, very puzzled. Bob
