  • 15HP Flooding

1999 15hp 4 stroke. It'll start fine but flood out of every possible opening in the carb. within 10-15 seconds.

Just rebuilt the carb yesterday. New float, needle, & gaskets and still floods out.

Is it possible the fuel pump can generate too much fuel pressure? Is there a pressure relief valve somewhere?

Can anyone offer a direction to go with this? Thanks for the assistance.

Check the float in carb to see if it will float when you drop in a small container of gas.

Put the float in a can of gas and it floats. Also, put a weight on it over night and it does not have any leaks.

This float design is just plain dumb. The float level is determined by the molded tab on the float itself which is plastic. Yet it appears the float sits too low as there is no contact with the seat as it rises in the carb.

So the plan is to bend the tab and see what happens.
