I have a 1997 50 hp mercury outboard model #50elpt. The battery is overcharging, the voltage regulator has been changed, the battery condition is good. (float voltage is 12.7) A voltmeter reads 14.96 at idle and 15.2 at 2000 rpm and increases as the rpms increase. Please help

Fully charge the battery(s) and loadtest them before diagnosing the engine charging system. If good, sounds like your voltage regulator(s) is bad. Those readings are way too high. Don't think you should see over 14.3v at WOT.
