1997 Mercury 9.9 2 stroke

1997 Mercury Model no. 1-010312TN S/N 0G542246. Had fuel related problems. Want to upgrade to a 15. I get mixed opinions about this change. I think it is a carb and exhaust change, but I'm not sure.

Also, if I just fix carb, mine is a 9726T5. Currently I find it is a 9726T18 supersedes the T5. Anyone know what the difference is?
