I'M thinking of replacing my carburetor on my 1986 mercury outboard. the problem is your serial number doesn't match your part diagram for my carburetor. When i looked on another site it shows the right carburetor but the serial number doesent match. It's a 1986 mercury outboard 20 hp serial number is AO971845....CARB. NUMBER WMC9-2605...maybe its XD model because the diagram for that model looks right.

Look at serial number plate to see where motor was made, is it made in USA?

IT says it was made in fond- du-lock wisconsin. thanks

Yes it is an 20XD model, carb part number 8676A 5 Carburetor
