I have a 1980 hydra sport bass boat with a 1979 mercury 150 horse power v6 outboard motor. I just purchased it a week ago but the guy I bought it from said sat in shop for about a year. He said he changed all six spark plugs and all six coils and wires but it still won't start. It is getting plenty of fuel and air but none of the six spark plugs are sparking when tested them. I ain't sure if is the stator, rectifier, or solenoid. The starter will engage but the motor will not fire over. I have also replaced the batteries as well

You will need a peak reading voltmeter(DVA meter) to test voltage output of stator, trigger coils and switch box output to coils to see if are within specs per service manual, start by disconnecting black/yellow wire(stop circuit) from switch box and crank over to check for spark.Regards
