  • Help identify motor

I have a motor of the late 80's or early 90's that has no number labels on it, nor evidence of ever having had one... It says "Classic", 40, is black with white and silver lettering and narrow red stripe, squarish cover, is four cylinder and is oil injected. I need to know how to further identify this motor to proceed with servicing it. I am in Pennsylvania, hoping to save a dealer, some distance from me, some time searching for identification. This is his busiest season...
For example is there any series of identifiers (stamping/casting numbers, engine numbers, tags or part numbers on those parts, etc.,) that could help me identify this motor?

The 40 Classic was the 2 cylinder engine that was on the older 402 models but I don't remember what years it was made.

Nope, this is a 1990 four cylinder oil injected, and I am slowly narrowing it down. It has an electric hydraulic tilt. Anyway, now I am searching for a salvage motor to buy a few parts off of! Please email me at pnaeser@gmail.com if you have this motor!

        Found but still looking

Well, this motor has now been identified, but I am still in need of a salvage motor for parts. Help? And thanks.
