8hp carb in place of 6hp?

I have a 1987 Merc, 6hp that really needs a new carb. However the wmc 19A type carb for the 6hps are nowhere to be found. On the other hand the 8hp carbs are easy to find. My question is, can i put on the 8hp carb on my 6 hp motor? They require the same gasket kit and there are only two hp difference.
