What are these wires for?

I have a 2013 40hp 4stroke EFI 3 cycle I received from my fathers estate after he pasted in feb. He never had any issue with this motor before. I went to crank it and it will not start. I have tested and I'm not receiving and spark. I was tracing wires down and notice these 2 wire were not terminated. One is purple and the other brown, one had a male and the other a female connector. Does anyone know what they are, should they be connected?

not that is is the same as mine (1999 75 Merc ELPTO) but I have brown wires disconnected and I was told that this is tilt and trim gauge wires (no gauge on my boat so no need to be connected).

I have no idea about the purple.
