I want to replace the stainless steel drain and vent screws in the lower unit pf my 2008 Optimax 115 outboard with magnetic screws . I like the idea of the magnetic screws attracting any metal shavings that might be in the gear case oil. But I've read that magnetic screws should not be used on all outboards.
I've searched the diagrams and parts lists I could find online and find plenty of the stock screws listed for the motor but no listings for the magnetic screws...
Can or should the stock drain and vent screws be replaced on an 08 Optimax without doing any damage, and if so, where can I find and order these?
