  • 1990 smoking 135 black max on start up poor idle

Never need fuel enrichment/choke to start the motor and when it does start it smokes like hell and idles OK for a few seconds but then I have to use the fast idle lever to keep the motor running, then after a few seconds I can put it in gear and head out, but it will sputter on acceleration (smoking), clear up and I can go for miles, but is not at peak performance, it will surge sometimes to peek performance when I head in to dock it will stall and I have to play with the fast idle.

Carbs are clean, floats and needles perfect, if I block the fuel to the carbs I can pump the primer bulb and fuel will enter the engine??? I pulled the pulse line of the fuel pump, squeeze the primer bulb and again fuel enters engine?? So it's not entering the motor there???
I haven't pulled the fuel pump yet is there another way fuel is entering the motor????

Remote oil tank always has pressure even after sitting overnight is that normal?

    Thanks in advance

Found it! Pulse port in back of fuel pump puking gas into motor, simple fix by rebuilding fuel pump should do the trick!

Hope this helps someone! Don' t why there are two pulse ports, one for the oil one for fuel??
