I have a 2011 Mercury 90hp four stroke outboard
When I am running at any speed while on plane, when I pull the throttle back & allow the boats natural resistance against the water to slow it down & come off plane, I am hearing a load clicking noise that sounds like it's coming from the lower unit and is caused when the force of the water turns the prop. It sounds as if the prop is turning a gear, which has a piece that in turn is bumping against another part that's making the clicking noise.
Has anyone experienced this sound? Can anyone enlighten me as to what's going on here and what I need to do to correct the issue?
Thanks,
Gary
