  • 99 Mercury 125HP outboard won't low idle

Trying to get the boat ready but can't get the outboard to low idle. I start it in high idle and ease down on the idle, but it dies in me. Sometimes it will go 30 seconds or so, but it won't stay low. So far I've done the following:
    • Rebuilt Carbs
    • Used Fresh fuel
    • new spark plugs
    • Checked stator
    • Replaced fuel pump
    • Replaced primer bulb

Anyone have any suggestions for next steps? Thanks!

I usually check to see if all the carbs are doing there job by covering one up at a time to see if there is any rpm drop. If they all act the same then I'd go thru and synchronize the carbs and the ignition timing per the book. If one doesn't give you a rpm drop then you have your smoking gun. Check the idle circuit in the carb and check over the reed peddles. Check your compression for grins. My $.02, Let us know what you find
