Rev limeter

I have a 2005 mercury 50 efi four stroke that when you I am at full throttle its hitting rev limter. It didn't do this until I had a boat mechanic service it. I asked him about it and he told me it might have wrong size prop but it ran fine before he worked on it. Any ideas what he did to it. Thanks for any help.

You could check to see if the drive is full down and the prop is not cavitiating, and or he did something to get it to run better and now the prop isn't holding the RPM down. Another thing is, if you have a rubber hub in the prop is it slipping. Let's us know what you find
