The engine starts cold fine. On a recent trip after it had been running a while I was able to run at full throttle. I noticed that the full throttle RPM's were down by about 300.
I continued at full throttle and the engine would suddenly gain power and the rpms would be at spec ( 5300). After a few minutes the engine lose power suddenly and return to about 5000 rpms.
It acted as though one cylinder was cutting in and out. The change was abrupt and very noticeable.
In the past I have had to change out the CDM modules for each cylinder and when they failed I would lose 300 rpms when one was out.
I just checked the engine ( now cold) and every cylinder is firing normally. I also warmed the engine and checked the compression. No problem there. All cylinders firing normally when warmed. Could a partially blocked high speed jet in one of the carburetors cause this ??
Any thoughts and are there any other components that could cause this problem.
