  • Convert 2009 30hp tiller to remote

After researching what parts I will need for the remote conversion, I am a bit confused.
I would like to convert a 2009 30 hp tiller four stroke:
    F30ELHPT
    OR303182
What parts will I need to convert to remote steer?
The boat already has steering installed, so no cable needed.
Thank for all of your help.

I picked up part # 889246A33 and Part number # 881170A13 to perform the tiller to remote conversion. The kit was missing parts, washers, cotter pin and main rubber gasket that covers the control cables coming into the motor. Also, the harness in missing the correct plugs. There are no wires/plugs running from the harness to the remote. I have no trim support wires besides the cowl switch wires, and no power wire running from motor to the remote. The instructions state that this "part" is an accessory to power the trim tilt switch. But if you look at the wiring diagrams, without this part, you have no power connection between the remote and the motor.

Can I get some help? Thanks mercury for making this such a pleasure and getting back to me right away. Are no Techs monitoring this site anymore? And if not, where can I get some factory MERCURY help? Thank you.

889246A33 should have had correct parts in it. If the harness from control box is a 8 pin harness then it will have a blue and a green wire on it that connects to green trim wire at trim relay and the blue to blue at relay.

The PTT wires are pink and blue, the round harness connector is 13 pin I believe. Without scavenging the PTT button harness from the tiller, this harness is almost useless. I had to buy the remote PTT harness to complete the master harness, now to complete that harness, I have to by the cowl PTT switch.

One other question if I install the SC1000 tach gauge, do I need to run to run a wire harness from the engine to the gauge, or can I plug the SC1000 into the smartgauge plug on the remote control? Thank you.

If it has the 14 pin main harness from engine then yes it will plug into harness at helm

Just for confirmation, does the SC1000 Tach gauge work on a 2009 Mercury 30hp outboard? I would like to get fuel flow, temp, hours and tach working. Thank so much.
