I have recently purchased my first boat and it has a Merc 500 outboard motor. It runs, but not great. the S/N on the motor is 1964604 and after a search found that it was made between 1964-66.
I am interested in acquiring a service manual for this particular motor. I have never worked on a boat motor but I work on anything else that needs a wrench.
Any suggestions on maintaining/PM work would be great. Also, if anyone knows where a good source for used/refurbished parts are that would be great as well.
