  • 90 4 stroke, hard to start

I have 2004 carb model 90 hp 4 stroke. It is hard to start cold. I suspect the auto enrichers are not delivering fuel. What is the procedure to check to see if voltage is being delivered and if the enrichers are operating. I had previously removed the carbs inspecting them and cleaning with carb cleaner and compressed air.

found answer to my own question

I was able to consult a Mercury service manual and found out the default position for the enricher valve is open, allowing gas to enter carb throat and as motor warms up, the enricher valve gradually closes, lessening the amount of gas from that source.

how does it start with a good shot of starter fluid? could be that you need to clean/ replace the carb (ethanol damaged)

You may want to check your fuel vent line's

one cylinder 100 rest are 150

I put the boat in the shop, I took it out for a test run, started to run real bad at low speed, checked compression, one cylinder at 100. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a major repair.
