Hello,, everybody,,,well it's been awhile since I started working on my Pontoon boat,,,about 4 months and it's been very traumatic.
I went Elk hunting with my Son from Dallas,,,and I had a pretty bad heart attack while we were in the mountains. Very fortunate that we were able to contact emergency services and with the help of a GPS, my Son led them right to me and got air lifted out and to a hospital in El Paso where they took great care of me. I have been slow with getting back to 100% but slowly but surely getting there.
I did finally get the shift control box rebuilt, and Been tryin to get the steering and shift cables fixed but found the black plastic clip on the rear of the engine shifter lever had broke in half, so could not clip the shift cable end to it. I removed the shift/throttle bracket that is bolted to left side of engine in order to remove the rest of the plastic clip. Bracket has 3 bolts and the one UNDER the bracket is NOT accessible unless you tear the engine almost completely apart,,,!!! what I did is perform a redneck, southern, shadetree, fix and drill a hole where I could get a 1/2" socket thru the cowl to remove this bolt. I already have a 3/4" rubber plug ready for pluggin the hole when done and nobody the wiser,,,,!!!
I am not having any luck locating this plastic clip, it is the one that has a small 1/4" metal pin where the end of the shift cable slips over and then locked down. Can any body lead me where I can find one,,,??? Many thanks
