  • Merc 110 (9.8 hp) impeller replacement

    Hello,
I need to replace the impeller on this outboard.
I have no manual and have never done this before, but I am a very capable mechanic.I was hoping someone could help me out with a picture or an explanation on where this separates and how. what to be careful of/look for etc.
I had it replaced a few years ago and I hate waiting on other people to do a job when I can do it myself. Can anyone help me out with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff

Dad's boat out of the water for many years. Tried to start it today and it started but the water was not flowing correctly.

Fantastic Mercury 9.8hp in need of your help

              Hi Guys

I've got a great old Merc 9.8 that needs an impeller change, I've had this motor for years and its been a beaut but I now want to take my 5 year old boy out and have been thinking about reliability perhaps more seriously.

I am having trouble dropping the gearbox, it is loose but wont come away, I have taken the plugs out and checked the gears by turning the engine over and the're fine. Is there a gear linkage that I need to disconnect.

Any help would be greatly received.

I can't remove the bottom unit to check the impeller

                Gentlemen

I have removed the two nuts that I believe is holding the bottom unit in place but I am not able to seperate the bottom unit. Did I miss a nut/screw?

If I didn't miss a nut\screw then how do I get the bottom unit to drop?

Can you also provide a link to the right replacement impeller? I see two options but I don't know which to chose [ 9.8 11 TWIN, 1967, red pin stripe]
