1986 Mercury 25 hp XD part 94084 shift lever

Part 94084 shift lever is no longer available. Any suggestions on where to find one or any repair/replacement options? Also my motor is hard to shift into reverse (manual). Any adjustment recommendations on how to adjust? this may be why the shifter lever broke. The metal ball broke out the side of the plastic lever. Marine JB Weld repair did not hold.

Not sure where to find lever. Could have linkage or shift rod binding or a problem inside gearcase. Remove lower unit and check to see which one is binding.
