Mercury classic 50?

I have a 1986 classic 50 serial # A987132 it's tiller steering. I would like to know if the tiller steering assembly would work on a 1989 50hp serial # B393676 which is currently remote steering? Any info would be great and thank you. The 1989 has power trim
