Alarm

Hey,
I have a 2007 Mercury 90 Optimax. My alarm started beeping 4 times every 2 minutes. I was told to turn my key switch to the on position without cranking the motor and if it still beeps the 4 times I would need to replace the entire oil tank. I was told the level switch inside the tank was saturated causing it to sink and give a fakes alarm. Any input on this situation.

That is probably what has happen, it's common to have to replace oil tanks.
