Changed oil seal on prop shaft, now just stays in gear

Had ordered an oil seal for the prop shaft from you and installed it. Had to take out the prop shaft, which came out with the gears etc. Must have gotten something back in wrong as now the motor is always in gear. I think forward. No matter where shifter is placed, nothing changes. What is the secret to reinstall the prop shaft on a 2006 Mercury 25 HP, not big foot. Model is 0R149397.

Shift cam follower may have came out end of prop shaft, need to remove shaft and check shift parts.

Checked and now it is all good to go. Thanks. Saved me a huge shop expense.
