2002 mercury 50 hp.
Motor idles good but will not open up. Running half speed. Hold it wide open going down lake back off throttle and nail it again it will open up for a second and then slows back down. Fuel filter is clean. Not sure what's the problem

Run a compression test, check for fire on all cylinders with a timing light. May need to remove and clean carbs.

squeeze the primer ball while at wot. If the engine runs good your fuel pump is not keeping up or you have an air leak. Or a restriction if the bulb stays flat.
