115hp 2 stroke erratic idle

i have a 115 hp 2 stroke 4 cylinder outboard not sure on year late ninties to early 2000's. it starts up fine and will idle fine for about a minute then the idle picks up approx 5-600 rpms and it pops and the idle goes back down for a few seconds then it revs back up again. have replace spark plugs. thinking dirty carbs but not sure where to head from here. any help is greatly appreciated
