Carrier bearing/reverse gear still in LU

Hi everone new to this forum! and have a tech problem.
Mercury Model 1200724 Serial 06461530 200 HP Carb Engine.
I removed carrier assembly but the roller bearing and reverse gear is stuck in housing. I know the thrust ring is keeping in locked in 'lite corrosion' I even tried the shift cam procedure but was wondering if I put prop on so I can lightly heat and leverage off of prop to pull apart???
Any other suggestions??? Thanks, Eluder...

With carrier removed reverse gear should fall out, if it's corrosion on housing holding it should be able to clean with small brush.

Thanks, for responding but I did scrape around edge and cleaned bore and soaked & lightly heated. I Merc Mechanic stated to rotate so prop shaft is pointing down apply heat and tap around untill it comes apart.

My question is can I use the prop with blocking under it and tighten to draw assembly out like the carrier?? I do not want to proceed untill I know and so far no body can give me a yes or no. Thanks, Loren...

You can but be sure to remove shift shaft first.
