  • fishing line in prop-seals blew

I have a question about special tools required to do a job.

    1987 Mercury 45 HP. Serial 0B215907.

The rear seal needs replaced (i got fishing line wrapped around the prop). My service manual is a little unclear as to what all needs taken out to replace. I know I need special tool 91-91947 to remove the plastic nut. Would that be the extent of what I would need? (I know I need the actual seals also). Once that plastic nut is off, is that were those seals reside? Do I need to also purchase the Puller Jaws and Puller Bolt special tools that pull the whole bearing carrier assembly out (special tool part # 19-46086A1, 91-85716)?

On the fill and vent lower unit oil holes, should there be 2 blue washer on each hole (for example, the fill hole screw has a blue washer around it and the hole has another blue washer around it for a total of 2 washers on that hole......does it matter? I am replacing the washers and not sure if I should put 1 or 2)

    Thanks!

Would need nut wrench and puller, carrier would need to be removed.
Just one blue washer on each screw.
