  • Remove Tilt Trim 3 Ram center ram

I am trying to repair my center Ram O-rings and I need help/directions on how to remove the middle Tilt Trim Ram. I have found a parts diagram, so I know what I am dealing with. I guess my first question is how to remove the groove pin from the trim cylinder. When the motor is tilted up I can tap it from the boat side but it seems to stop moving once I get it about an inch out. If I tap it from the other side when the motor is down, it doesn't seem to move at all.
Am I just not hitting it hard enough?
Is there a right or wrong direction to tap out the grove pin and the upper shaft.
    Second.
Once, I remove the top pin, I know I have to remove the bottom groove pin as well. once they are both removed will that center cylinder come on out or are there other parts to remove/loosen as well?

Heat lamp - can I use a torch on the tilt rod to get the trim rod piston off

I guess I will reply to my own thread.
I got the Pin pushed out far enough to get the upper swivel pin tapped out. I had to lower the motor 4/5 of the way down and tap the cross pin. I had to use different punches to get it to work. I finally had to cut a nail in half to be able to push it far enough with the original punch. The angle wasn't good enough to get a punch to do the whole thing.

Now that I have the tilt rod out of the cylinder. I am trying to get the trim rod piston off so I can put on the new o-rings. The manual says to heat up the valve with a torch lamp. I do not have a lamp. Can I use a torch to slightly heat it up to shock the piston from the rod so it will unscrew with the spanner wrench?
