I have a 2006 Mercury (Tohatsu) 6 hp 4 stroke outboard. It is currently a short (15") shaft.
Does anyone know if it can be converted to a long (20") shaft using a 5" extension kit?
I have been told by one parts person that it is possible using the extension and "UL" drive shaft, shift level and water tube.
This does not make sense to me as we are only extending the shaft to a 20" one. Another parts person told me it couldn't be done.
Thoughts?
