Hi I just recently bought a 60 hp mercury engine on Craigslist that ran good for about 15 mins than cut out. I belivd it's a spark issue because I tried starting fluid and would not start so I took out spark plug nd turned it over and the spark on every cylinder is very weak and sometimes won't spark at all. I was told the power pack was brand new and it looks new. I think it might be the stator. Is there any way to test the stator leads to see if its putting out the correct voltage/ohms? I believe the year of the motor is a 1986. Thanks for the help. Kevin

Start with a compression test. You will need a peak reading voltmeter and service manual to test ignition to find which part has failed.Regards
