beep sound

I have a 1989 Mercury xr2 with not alot of hours on it. I had a small hose to bust right when the boat sat down at the ramp.. The line near the oil reservior on motor busted. Shut motor off wenched boat on trailer brought home and replaced the hose fill the main reservior up and crank it up in yard with a flush kit on motor. Ran it long ehough to fill the motor reservior till it ran over. Cut motor off and replaced the cap on tank and tighten down. Took boat back out several weeks had the normal beep when switch is turn on. The beep i have is after boat gets on plane running about 40 miles per hour and it beeps about every 30 seconds just for a second. Water spraying good from motor Need some tips have only 3 hairs left on my head.
