Mercury service manual does not go into any detail about prop nut torque and all it shows is a nut. I just purchased a new Mercury Black Max prop and its instructions say to install a locking tab and torque to 26 ft lbs.
I cannot fnd a tab or part number for one. The Mercury parts supplier says it does not have a locking tab. If so, 26 ft lbs does not seem right. Should be higher I would thnk. No other Mercury I have ever owned or worked on had a tab. If you just tighten the prop nut using a piece of wood to lock the prop it seems to squash the prop hub out. Does anyone have any input?
