I'm cleaning and rebuilding the carburetors on a 1999 Tracker Mercury 40hp 4-stroke, 3 cylinder outboard. The center and bottom carburetors have an approximate 1/8" rubber washer on top of the plunger. The top carburetor did not. The service manual does not show this washer and the kit didn't come with it either. Would anyone know why these washers were installed and do I need to put them back in? Would it have anything to do with altitude? I live in New Mexico and some of our mountain lakes are over 7,000' above sea level. I would like to take this boat up to a lake in Colorado that is at 10,000'.
Also, I do not see any options for different sized jets in the service manual for high altitude. These carburetors only have the idle adjustment screw and no other adjustment.
Any help or advice would be appreciated
Thanks
