Mercury 175 hp xri fuel enrichment valve

The yellow/black wire from the fuel enrichment valve either never was connected, or has been disconnected. I have the manual, so know that the wire should connect to pin 6 of the wiring harness plug. Unfortunately, I do not have a wiring diagram for the Champion Boat the motor is mounted on, so do not know what the wire should be connected to. While in my possession, the boat appeared to run fine, so I do not know what function the fuel enrichment valve should perform, or if it's even needed. It must not be critically needed. I would appreciate any information anyone might be able to provide.

The 175 XR1 should be a fuel injected engine which does not use a fuel enrichment, if so that wire is not connected to anything.
