Tohatsu parts on a Mercury motor?

Hello: I'm wondering if a Tohatsu part is compatible with a 2012 Mercury EFI 25 (built by Tohatsu, stickers by Mercury). The part in question is this: PROPELLER SHAFT HOUSING ASSEMBLY 346Q873235 . I'm asking because the equivalent Merc part is much more expensive, and appears identical. Also wondering if the lower unit on the Mercury can be replaced with a Tohatsu lower unit.

I have never tried it but it should work, they are basically the same.
