Hello my name is Mark I had ordered a head gasket on boats.net for a Force 1988 50 HP outboard motor and was wondering what the torque specs are for putting the bolts back in and do I put any high temp sealer around it and also what about lock tight? Thank you, much appreciated =]! Model is 507X8C, sorry I forgot that.

It's 20ft#s and NO sealer.
Just make sure it's CLEAN!!!!
As it's tourqed it shouldn't need locktite.
In fact it would probably make them so you'd never get them out again.
I clean them and use a thread chaser on the head.
Clean the threads real good.
And a touch of grease on the tip.
Tourqe in a staggered pattern, then after a couple of hours run time re-tourqe.

Okay now on the torque its going to say the 20ft#s ? On the torque wrench correct? My dad is the one doing it he is a car mechanic but was tottally lost on the boat issue lol. Hoping the gasket solves the issue. It overheated on the water and cranks over fine but just wont start. Thank you again!

Okay one more quick question for you. My father told me he's been guessing on the 2 cycle ratio since he bought it and has been running for 2 years no problem. But he thinks he may have been mixing it to cheaply, as in not enough. Could that have overheated the engine on the water? If I do get it running again what is the ratio I AM suppose to use? Thanks again lol.
