  • 2004 Mercury 60 HP EFI Big Foot Regulator

Recently purchased a 2004 Pontoon with a 60 HP Merc big foot. My son tried to start it without the lanyard connected and killed the battery after only a couple tries. Figured it was to quick to kill the battery and noticed the volt meter was below 12 volts when finally charging the battery and getting it started. I cleaned the terminals on the battery and wires and still only 12 volts. Connected a tester to it and it appears the charging system isnt working. After reading this forum, it appears my regulator is bad and needs replacement. My serial number is 0T855595 and Model 1-A60452CD. There seems to be several types to get and wire hookups look different on each. Is this a fairly simple replacement or is this better left up to the dealer to do and confirm the issue? I'm fairly mechanical and it appears straight forward. Can someone advise on the part number and if this is even the issue? I read there is a fuse inline also, but couldnt find one.

    Thanks

You would need to order new 893640A02 Regulator kit, instructions will come with kit but take some wire changes.

Thanks, do I need to install the whole kit or can the regular be just swapped out?
