Driveshaft Housing Assembly changeout

Hi all,

First time to the forum and i need some help. I have a 1987 Mercury Classic Fifty (45hp) long shaft and it has a busted Driveshaft Housing Assembly. I've found a part that looks like it will fit that came off a 1984 mercury 50HP. The part number listed by Boats.net on ebay is 1980-1990 Mercury driveshaft housing 7513A12 40 45 50 60 70 **8426**.

My engine code near the motor block is B1477814....the Boats.net operator told me it would fiit but their on-line chat operator said they could not confirm.

Can someone please confirm?

7513A12 is a 20 inch shaft non power trim housing and will fit your motor if yours is a long shagt model.

Update!

The part came in and unfortunately after hours of work I realized that it would not fit because. It's about 3 inches too short. I really wish I had consulted the forum before making the purchase. So here I am.....back at square one.

Can anyone please help me identify the correct part number that will actually fit my engine?

I'm looking for a Driveshaft Housing Assembly and my engine code near the motor block is B1477814.

My engine has power trim by the way...I think that was what made the difference.
