    I need help!

I am new to this forum so please bear with me. I have just rebuilt a 40 year old boat for my son and at the final moment hooked up the battery polarity backwards! Within 10-15 seconds I noticed smoke coming from the motor cowl (2002 135HP Optimax ser #OT484330). Well after 7 weeks of restoration I feel like a fool!

The internal engine harness is burnt, exposed wires and the like. Any advise as to what else I have fried do to my mistake? The parts are very expensive but it is my son's first boat and I have to make it good. The motor ran excellent befor I screwed up.

Any help advise will be greatly appreciated.

Retired Old Fart can't see + & - on battery top!

Try replacing the harnesses, you may be lucky. If not could have fried the ECM, volt reg, stator, any number of things.
