Can't get it up!!!

I've got a 72 mercury outboard 1150. Sometimes when i try to manually raise the outboard (no hydrolics) the clamp that hold on to the trim bar will not disconnect. I then have to physically remove the adjustable trim bar to get it up.

Does anyone have a diagram how this works. It clams on the drive do not seem to come up or rotate enough to release properly.

Try to put it into forward gear. Some have to be in gear to lift.
