Solenoid for 9.9 Mercury FS 1996

Hello, I am having a hard time finding a choke solenoid for my Mercury 9.9 four stroke, 1996.
The problem is intermittant - once in awhile it will refuse to start and acts "dead" even though it has just been running perfectly. I have heard that these 1996 9.9 Mercury four strokes are actually Yamaha engines. Can anyone verify? If so, what is the corresponding Yamaha part?
