1970's 9.8 Mercury throttle arm and linkage

I have 1970's model 9.8 Mercury i would like to know if the throttle arm and linkage are compatible with newer models such as 80's models

What are you referring to as the throttle arm and linkage. On the motor or tiller handle?

I was referring to the tiller arm. but found out it was different the older model has a solid linkage while the 80's model has cables.
