  • 115 mercury outboard loses power

We have a 24' pontoon with a 2005 115 mercury ELPTO model # 1-115412DD Since we bought it from the dealer it has not run properly, after running for about 1/2 hour it starts to cut out.... like its not getting gas, if you pull it into neutral wait a second or 2 then throttle it open it will pick back up and run for a while but starts cutting out again, drops from 5000 rpms down to 2000 or 2500 at times sometimes it will go to 3000 rpms. We have had it back to the dealer many times this is what they said they did, ck'd for spark & compression-OK, ck'd fuel line for internal collapse-OK, lake tested found spark was good & would run with primer bulb constantly pumped, they removed all carbs and cleaned, ck'd fuel pump said it ran good when they tested it however it did not...left us dead in the water, back to dealer they replaced the CDM module assem. boat seemed to run ok for a while but now it is back to cutting out .....Does anyone out there have any idea as what could be causing this....we put on a new fuel line and ball

Sounds like a fuel pump or fuel line restrictions.

      115 mercury bogging out

we were thinking fuel pump as well , if the pump is bad wouldnt it act like this all the time? our son took it out said it ran great all day heading back to ramp at end of day started cutting out, RPMS dropped said he didnt think they were going to make it back, we had it out about a week later and it never missed a beat... would you know where the pump is located?.....replaced a fuel line beginning of the season.... also thinking the anti siphon valve in tank is stuck... any ideas on this..its has a built in tank. your input is greatly appreciated

The Anti-syphon valve is a great possibility, this would cause excessive fuel line restrictions. Fuel pump is bolted directly block port side.

          runs rough

On older inline motors a bad stator can make the engine run rough, do a search at all the sites
