Power trim

I have a 1987 70hp mercury that has a what I believe to be a gas assit lift. My question is would a power trim unit from a 1988 70hp mercury replace the gas assit lift on my 1987? I thank you in advance for any help with this

Unfortunately the OEM kit is no longer available, there are some aftermarket companies that offer a generic PTT system.
