trying to troubleshoot my 2001 25 hp 2 stroke with only a multimeter..un plugged kill switch at switchboxblk/ylw wire no spark still. put = lead of meter to male end of plug got reading of.001 put lead on female end it stayed at 1. on ohmn scale.i guess switch is working..

next tried wht/grn stripe wire from stator. hooked up = lead to male end - lead to grn on motor=1311,, re connected,, next grn/ white stripe = lead in female end =1371 , when i switched leads around to male end nothing shows up.... next tried trigger wires brn/ylw stripe meter started out on 1. when i first touched + lead to male end and - to motor i would get various reading then back to 1. same thing with brn/wht stipe.. am i doing this test right?? thanks for any help..

    power problem

You need to find the power fuse. It will be a in line fuse or a mini fuse.Be sure to check this fuse by testing it with a volt meter. Some time these fuses will blow in the very end and you can not see it.the way your meter is running back down to a .001 it sounds like you have lost the power going to the stator/trigger/ switch box. hope you find it. A small 12 volt test light is great for this problem. wal mart has a cheep one
