  • opti guys... fuel sender question

I just replaced old clouded smartcraft gauge set with a new set of smartcraft gauges. They are SC1000's if it's relevant. Have speedo and 2 tachs. Anyway, as part of the update, I checked the fuel sender and it was pretty corroded in there so I want to replace it. When I pulled it I discovered that it was the old analog style with the arm. I bought a moeller digital type (WEMA) to go back in.

Here's the question... the new sender has a pink wire and a black wire. The wiring harness in the boat has a 2 wire pink/black and orange/black wire, and a separate black wire.

After reading everything I could fine in the interwebs, I do not want to chance frying my ecu. Please tell me which wires to connect.

boat has dual 2003 225s Serial numbers 0T7xxxxx

    Thanks, Harvey

I think I found the answer here...
    http://www.marinemechanic.com/merc/d...ge-optimax.PDF

I have a poly tank so I assume it's not grounded (how/why would you ground a poly tank anyway?)

So I connect the wiring harness black and black/orange to the sender black, and connect the harness pink/black to the sender pink.

Right? That's sure what it looks like to me! I will wait for someone's verification just to be safe.

    Thanks, Harvey
