Mercury outboard Model numbers

How do you go from Serial # to Model #? Most parts dealers ask you to look up parts by model #. If I enter the serial #, they say it is nonexistent, but I am reading it right off of the motor. I do not see a model # anywhere on the motor. It is a 210 cc Sailmaster. I do not know the age or the horsepower. Thank you for any assistance. Paul

I am certain why most dealers ask for model numbers on Mercury, Mercury is one of the few manufactures that deals with serial numbers instead of year or model. What is your serial number and I may be able to give you model?
