Carrier Installation help needed

I have a 1984 mercury 7.5 outboard. The last time the unit was serviced, before I bought it, the thrust washer was missed during reassembly of the leg. I now have to replace the carrier, prop, etc.

Is there a particular torque required when installing the carrier ?

Any other tips I should know ?
