Mercury 50 ELPTO Trim Problem

I have the above mentioned motor with Remote Control Console (Single)(Part # 88688A25 - A27) and the trim paddle is bad. I verified by ohming out the wiring.

My question is how do you replace the trim paddle? Does the trim cover just pop off? If so, does anyone know the easiest way to pop it off? I want to make sure before I try and completely screw up the throttle handle.

The cover is glued in, have to pry out with a putty knife and replace cover with new one.

I ordered the switch and a cover just in case. Hopefully things work out.
